MEET CAITLIN IVEY

Licensed Professional Counselor Resident

Caitlin has worked with children and adolescents for about 10 years now. Since moving to the Northern Virginia area in July 2014, she has been working as a professional middle school counselor with Fairfax County Public Schools. As a full-time professional school counselor, Caitlin works with students to provide individual and group counseling. She teams with families to provide ongoing support and resources both in and out of the schools.

 

Through the techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness, Caitlin has experience in working with clients on topics such as anxiety, depression, life stressors, grief and loss, and executive functioning challenges. Her areas of interest also include prenatal & postpartum mental health in which she is currently pursuing additional certification.

Caitlin completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Western Connecticut State University and went on to complete her Master’s degree in Counseling with a specialization in School Counseling from Central Connecticut State University. Caitlin lives with her husband, son, and dog in Northern Virginia. Outside of work, Caitlin enjoys cooking with her husband, exercising, and being out in nature hiking or exploring new places. She believes that there needs to be a holistic approach to mental health.
