DR. SHARON SINGH

Clinical Psychologist

Sharon Singh, PhD is a passionate, practical, strengths and evidenced-based developmental psychologist. She is also committed to being a clinician who embraces and honors differences in child development and neurodiversity. Dr. Singh conducts comprehensive developmental evaluations as well as developmental consultations for families of children 12 months to 5 years old who currently have or may have developmental delays, including their cognitive, expressive and receptive language skills, communication skills, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, and social and emotional skills. She also sees young children who need more support with their early executive functioning skills like attention and planning skills, as well as emotional regulation skills and behaviors. In her consults or evaluations, she always collaborates with other providers, caregivers, or teachers who know the young child as well as conducts behavioral observations at the child's preschool or daycare. Dr. Singh also reviews all records that the family provides such as previous evaluations, IFSP's and IEP's. 

 

In the near future, Dr. Singh will offer play therapy for young children whose family needs support around attachment, behavior and communication. She will be trained in the Early Start Denver Model, and Theraplay. 

 

Dr. Singh began her journey as a developmental psychologist in 2009 as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Child Development Program at Children's National. She loved the work so she stayed on to work there until 2018 and along the way she became a faculty member as well as received the Press Ganey, which is an award given to her by her patients at Children's National for her care of them. In 2017, Dr. Singh began a new position as a HealthySteps Specialist and implemented this program into a Children's National pediatric primary care site. Prior to coming up to DC for her Post-Doctoral Fellowship, Dr. Singh graduated from the University of Houston with her Doctorate in Philosophy. She went to Baylor University for her undergraduate degree. 

 

When she is not at work, she enjoys working out, gardening and spending time with her husband, son and dog, West.
