Social Psychologist Resident

Liz has been employed as a school psychologist in Fairfax County Public Schools for the past six years working with children and adolescents in a variety of capacities. She has experience conducting individual and group counseling, administering comprehensive psychological evaluations, and providing consultation to school staff and parents to help support students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and learning needs.

Collaborating with the child’s team, Liz has helped to develop several behavior intervention plans designed to target the function of a child’s behavior and to promote the use of coping strategies to help support growth with social skills, self-control, and emotional regulation. She is familiar with special education laws and procedures and through her work in schools, Liz has been afforded the opportunity to work with students and families representing diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Liz has received training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness techniques. She also serves on a team consisting of school based clinicians who provide training to staff on trauma informed practices. Liz has experience working with children who have anxiety and depressive disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

Liz earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Miami University, followed by her Master of Arts and Educational Specialist degrees at James Madison University. She is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). In her free time, Liz enjoys spending time with her fiancée, traveling with family and friends, playing tennis, and volunteering in the community. Liz is a Resident in School Psychology and is working to obtain licensure under the supervision of Christine Willing.
