School Psychologist Resident

Liz specializes in providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. She has expertise in conducting individual counseling, leading psychoeducational  groups, administering comprehensive psychological evaluations, and providing behavior plan consultation. Prior to joining the team full time at Think Happy Live Healthy, Liz worked for eight years as a school psychologist in the public schools in Northern Virginia working in elementary, middle, and high school settings. 

 

Working collaboratively with parents and school team members, Liz endeavors to help support clients in reaching their goals and developing increased confidence in their abilities to utilize healthy coping strategies that promote growth in areas such as social skills, self-control, and emotional regulation. In addition to providing direct services to clients and caregivers, Liz also enjoys sharing information about a variety of wellness topics in her regular blog posts featured on Think Happy Live Healthy’s website. 

 

Liz has received training in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness techniques, and has provided training to staff on trauma informed practices in the school setting. Liz has experience working with children who have anxiety and depressive disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.

 

Liz earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Miami University, followed by her Master of Arts and Educational Specialist degrees at James Madison University. She is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). In her free time, Liz enjoys spending time with her husband, traveling with family and friends, and playing tennis. Liz is a Resident in School Psychology and is working to obtain licensure under the supervision of Christine Willing.
