MEET OLIVIA YELLEN

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Olivia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, life transitions and changes, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and stress. When working with children, Olivia incorporates play therapy techniques to encourage expression, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help guide the connection of thoughts, emotions, and behavior as well as strengthen coping skills. When working with teens and adults, Olivia uses interpersonal and psychodynamic therapy as well as CBT to help clients better understand themselves. Olivia is also a Certified AutPlay Therapist, a specialized play therapy approach for working with children with autism, neurodivergent children and adolescents, and children with developmental disabilities.

Olivia is dedicated to creating a therapeutic space where clients can feel comfortable, supported, and empowered. Her approach is strength-based and collaborative. Olivia does not feel there is a “one size fits all” approach to therapy, and tailors’ treatment to the unique needs of each client.

Olivia received her Bachelor of Science in Counseling and Human Services at Old Dominion University and her Master’s degree in Social Work at Arizona State University. Olivia’s previous work experience includes working with children and families as a school social worker, and running psychoeducational groups for adults with disabilities at a local non-profit. Olivia has extensive knowledge of community resources and a special interest in helping both teachers and students navigate school related issues.
When she is not working, Olivia enjoys spending time with her husband and son, being outside, and exploring the DMV area.
