REBECCA NICKERSON

Resident in Social Work
Rebecca specializes in working with older adolescents and adults who are experiencing anxiety and depression, navigating life transitions, and managing relationship difficulties. She creates a safe, supportive environment for individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; build on their inherent strengths; and work toward their therapy goals to live more fulfilling lives. Rebecca uses a person-centered approach that is nonjudgmental and incorporates elements of psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, and family systems theory to treat individuals with a variety of mental health challenges.
Rebecca holds an MSW in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and has experience working in outpatient mental health and nonprofit affordable housing settings. She also has a PhD and an MA in East Asian Languages and Cultures from the University of Illinois and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Colgate University. Rebecca has spent several years living, working, and studying in Japan, and in her free time, she enjoys cooking, reading, running, and traveling.
