Licensed School Psychologist

Ms. Hoffman has practiced as a School Psychologist in a public school setting for over ten years. During her career, she has supported children from preschool through young adulthood by providing individual and group counseling, psychoeducational testing, behavior support, and consultation with families and school personnel.

Ms. Hoffman emphasizes a holistic approach which considers social, emotional, behavioral, academic, and lifestyle factors within the context of the child’s family, school, and community contexts. Ms. Hoffman’s work is rooted in a strengths-based approach that emphasizes collaboration and partnership with the client to build autonomy, self-efficacy, and resilience. As such, the goal of this therapeutic collaboration is not solely symptom reduction, but also one of insight and skill development. Ms. Hoffman deeply believes that autonomous, sustainable, and generalized well-being is the ultimate goal of therapeutic work.

Ms. Hoffman also has extensive experience conducting psychoeducational assessments that address the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioral, and academic strengths and needs of children, adolescents, and young adults. Here too, Ms. Hoffman emphasizes a strengths-based perspective while addressing underlying factors that contribute to learning difficulties and/or other challenges.

Ms. Hoffman earned a Bachelor’s degree from James Madison University with a major in Psychology and a minor in Family Studies (2006). She earned her Master’s degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from George Mason University in School Psychology (2009). Ms. Hoffman is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and has met and maintained qualifications to be a Nationally Certified School Psychologist since 2009. She has pursued additional training in the areas of Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Over her career, she has supported children, adolescents, young adults, and their families with a variety of needs including (but not limited to): ADHD and executive functioning, Autism Spectrum Disorders, anxiety, depression, social skills, adjustment difficulties, stress management, and learning disabilities.

When not working, Ms. Hoffman enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an avid football fan, enjoys reading, and has a daily mindfulness practice.
