MEET SUSAN FERTIG

Susan Fertig
Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Susan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has experience working with children and adolescents, families, adults, couples, and older adults. She specializes in anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, life changes and transitions, and communication. Susan strives to create a collaborative and welcoming environment using a person-centered approach, and believes in individualizing services to the needs of each client. Susan uses a combination of strengths-based approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to help her clients work towards their goals. Susan enjoys incorporating Play Therapy techniques in her work with children to help encourage emotional expression and skill building.

 

Susan completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology at the College of Charleston, and went on to receive her Master's Degree in Social Work from The Catholic University of America. Since then, Susan has worked as a therapist in both residential and outpatient community mental health settings, and most recently served as a Program Director for a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program for children and adolescents in Maryland. Susan's practice has focused on helping children and families build skills to help cope with grief, trauma, and life changes, and to help strengthen relationships. 

 

In her free time Susan enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and going for long walks with her dog.
