Emily Kukula, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a decade of experience treating adults who suffer from anxiety, depression, and traumatic stress disorders. Emily enjoys working with clients who desire to “go deeper” and understand how unresolved emotional wounds from the past continue to persist in the present. She particularly enjoys working with individuals in high pressure careers (i.e., first responders, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, pilots, etc.) who might feel uncertain about engaging in a therapeutic process as they navigating the sensitive nature of their work.
As a certified EMDR psychotherapist with an emphasis on a relational approach, Emily integrates the power of EMDR with a strong focus on the therapeutic relationship as a central force for healing. Emily believes that safe, attuned connection within the therapy space is essential for clients healing from complex trauma, offering the trust and co- regulation needed to access, process, and transform painful experiences that are linked to the past but continue to live in the present. Emily’s approach to therapy honors the science of EMDR and the deep, reparative potential of authentic human connection.
Emily completed her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, followed by her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. Since then, Emily has experience working within a law enforcement based federal employee assistance program and community mental health practice with a forensic population. As a lifelong learner, Emily regularly participates in EMDR trainings and continuing education.
Outside of her clinical work, Emily enjoys going on adventures with her husband and two young children, coaching and competing in CrossFit, and spending time by the water.
