Licensed Professional Counselor

Emily is a Licensed Professional Counselor with nearly 10 years of experience treating adults who suffer from anxiety, depression, and traumatic stress disorders. Emily enjoys working with clients who desire to “go deeper” and understand how unresolved emotional wounds from the past continue to cause issues in the present. She particularly enjoys working with individuals in high pressure careers as they navigate the demands of work while balancing everyday stressors. When done within the context of a warm and empathetic therapeutic relationship, Emily believes therapy can be a challenging yet restorative journey that leads to a more meaningful life experience on the other end.

Emily’s clinical practice is heavily grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and more recently, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The combination of CBT and EMDR enables clients to have a comprehensive therapeutic experience that addresses not only the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are problematic in the present, but also the underlying physiological dysregulation that lives in the body due to unresolved memories. Sessions with Emily are supportive, collaborative, and non-judgmental. Together, a unique treatment plan is created to help you reach your therapeutic goals.

Emily completed her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, followed by her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. Since then, Emily has experience working within a law enforcement based federal employee assistance program and community mental health practice with a forensic population. She is currently working towards becoming an EMDR certified therapist.

Outside of her clinical work, Emily enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband and son, coaching CrossFit, and spending time by the water.
