Resident in Social Work

Hello! I’m Jamila, a warm and welcoming clinical social work resident passionate about creating a safe and supportive environment for my clients. I have several years of experience working with children and adolescents, families, and parents facing anxiety, depression, life transitions, self-esteem issues, LGBTQ experiences, and trauma. I approach therapy with a strengths based and trauma informed lens to promote a space where my clients feel heard and understood. As a therapist, I strongly believe in creating a safe and nurturing environment to develop trust and connection in each session. I value a collaborative and open approach to meet the needs of each individual child and parent. Together we’ll work jointly in understanding your self-compassion, and strengthen your tools to navigate life’s stressors. I utilize techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and solution focused work with clients.

I received my bachelors in sociology from Clemson University and Master of Social Work from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Outside of my work as a therapist, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my close friends and family, painting, DIY projects, and long walks with my fur baby, Lola. I’m excited to meet you and work alongside you on your path towards healing, self-discovery, and strength!
