Licensed Professional Counselor

Jill is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist with experience working with people across the lifespan in the DMV area.  Her expertise lies in working alongside people through the impact of grief, trauma, and life transitions, and supporting children and their caregivers through early childhood.  Jill believes it is crucial to focus on a person’s strengths and unique experiences when walking with them in their healing process.

Jill seeks to create a comfortable space for each person with whom she works.  She approaches her work with curiosity, humility, humor, playfulness, compassion, and authenticity, and believes that change happens when we can be vulnerable within a safe environment.  Jill focuses on building a warm, empathetic therapy relationship where clients can come as they are to work towards their mental health goals.  Jill’s approach to each client depends on their needs, and is based on the principles of Person-Centered Therapy,  Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Play Therapy.  She is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and has completed basic training for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Jill completed her undergraduate degree in Cognitive Studies and Child Development at Vanderbilt University, followed by her Master’s of Education degree in Human Developmental Counseling from Vanderbilt.  Since then, Jill has experience working in the DC area as a school-based mental health practitioner, a therapist at community mental health practice, and a consultant and educator in the community, focusing on building skills within others to support their students, clients, and loved ones who have been impacted by grief and trauma.
