Caitlin Gilchrist

Licensed Professional Counselor

Caitlin is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia and National Certified Counselor. Her undergraduate experience includes counseling first year college students where her passion for counseling young adults grew. She also worked with domestic violence offenders exposing her to CBT based therapy and various relational issues. Caitlin completed her Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Washington University where she provided therapy services to the community and then more recently worked as a full time substance abuse counselor, where she facilitated individual and group psychotherapy. This allowed Caitlin to gain experience working with diverse populations and co-occurring mental health concerns. 

 

At Think Happy Live Healthy Caitlin hopes to continue to work with young adults and adults with topics such as depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, substance related concerns and relationship issues. She has received training in multiculturalism, motivational interviewing, and trauma informed care. Her clinical expertise include Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness techniques promoting a holistic wellness approach to therapy. 

 

In her free time, Caitlin enjoys being outdoors such as hiking, biking and walking around the monuments. She also likes yoga, coffee, and trying new local restaurants. Caitlin values spending time with family and friends.
