Emily Nagel, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Emily is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has had the privilege of working with children, adolescents and families since 2006. She treats a variety of challenges including behavioral issues, anxiety, and depression/mood disorder, thoughts of suicide, non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors, and trauma. By utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused intervention and attachment principles, Emily joins with clients and families to build successes and feelings of competency, resilience, and interpersonal effectiveness. Genuine curiosity, collaboration and humor help her provide a safe space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviors to implement positive change.

 

Emily attended the University of Mary Washington before earning her Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011, where she specialized in school social work. She began her career in the special education school setting and has since provided therapeutic services in home and office-based settings.

 

When she is not working, Emily enjoys spending time with family and friends, nieces and nephew, and working on various wood and art projects.
