Gwendolyn Kearney, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Gwendolyn is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) that has over a decade of experience working with adults and children in a multitude of settings. Through working in diverse settings, Gwendolyn learned the importance of tailoring her therapeutic approach to each client’s specific needs. Gwendolyn utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness to assist clients in gaining the insights needed to challenge problematic thought patterns, gain new perspectives and regain control in their lives. She is also trained in eye movement and desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) which enables her to support clients with working through difficult experiences and memories that hinder them from moving forward in their lives. Gwendolyn believes that all clients have the strength necessary to live their desired lives, they just need support with leaning into their strengths and learning skills to make the necessary changes to meet their goals.
Gwendolyn completed her Undergraduate degree at James Madison University majoring in Psychology and minoring in Family Studies. Through this degree, she learned that with the right support, people can accomplish anything they put their mind to. Gwendolyn received her Graduate Degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and did an internship at the Department of Veteran Affairs where she learned how perspective can be the difference between surviving and thriving. Gwendolyn specializes in working with adults and children who have experienced trauma, as well as supporting clients with working through life transitions, daily stressors and relational struggles. In her free time, Gwendolyn loves reading and exploring nature. She often is found working with her plants, exploring new paths in the woods and/or enjoying time with her niece and nephews.
