Janikqua Smith, MA, CAS, NCSP
School Psychology Resident
Janikqua is a creative and encouraging School Psychology Resident dedicated to helping school-aged children navigate the ups and downs of growing up. She frequently partners with families whose children are experiencing school-related anxiety or depression, struggling with ADHD and executive functioning, or finding it difficult to manage big emotions.
She specializes in individual counseling to teach vital self-regulation, mindfulness tools, social skills, and coping strategies that boost a child's self-esteem. In addition to therapy, Janikqua provides comprehensive psychoeducational assessments, transforming testing into a clear roadmap that highlights a student's unique learning strengths. Working with Janikqua feels collaborative and deeply creative, ensuring every child feels safe and heard while discovering real-world tools they can easily apply at school and home.
Janikqua earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Stevenson University (2017) followed by her Master's degree and Certificate of Advanced Studies in School Psychology from Bowie State University (2021). As a practicing school psychologist within a Northern Virginia public school district, she brings an invaluable understanding of educational systems. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, tacking creative DIY projects, and spending time with family and friends.
