Liz Bresnahan, Ed.S., NCSP

Licensed School Psychologist

Liz is a licensed school psychologist who specializes in providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and young adults. She has expertise in conducting individual counseling, leading psychoeducational groups, administering comprehensive psychological evaluations, and providing behavior plan consultation. Additionally, Liz has trained staff on trauma informed practices in the school setting.  In her therapeutic work with clients, Liz utilizes a strengths-based approach and incorporates evidence-based treatments. She has received training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness, and has experience working with individuals who have anxiety, depression, emotional regulation challenges, ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 

 

Liz strives to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of children, in collaboration with parents and school staff. She also emphasizes the mind-body connection, believing that physical health and mental health are related to each other.  In addition to providing direct services to clients and caregivers, Liz enjoys sharing information about a variety of wellness topics in her regular blog posts featured on Think Happy Live Healthy’s website. 

 

Liz earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Miami University, followed by her Master of Arts and Educational Specialist degrees at James Madison University. She is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and has met and maintained qualifications to be a Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Prior to joining the team full time at Think Happy Live Healthy, Liz worked for eight years as a school psychologist in the public schools in Northern Virginia working in elementary, middle, and high school settings. 

 

In her free time, Liz enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, traveling with family and friends, volunteering in the community, and playing tennis.
