Susanne Navas
Licensed Professional Counselor
Susanne is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 15 years of experience working with youth and adults as a wellness professional. Her work focuses on helpinh individuals, families, and groups feel more connected, empowered, and healthier. Her specialties include PTSD/trauma, anger management, substance and behavioral addictions, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, performance anxiety, grief, and life transitions. Her approach is compassionate, solution-focused, and supportive while challenging you as she walks alongside you on your path towards growth.
She believes in addressing the whole person, as wellness and healing incorporate the body as much as the mind. Her approach incorporates Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and mindfulness techniques. Lifestyle approaches are also incorporated into treatment (exercise, nutrition, sleep habits, etc.). When working with young people, she maintains a collaborative approach with parents, as parents know their children best, and must be part of the change. If you wish to incorporate spirituality or religion in your work, she welcomes and encourages this.
Susanne's degrees include a M.Ed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (The College of William & Mary), a M.A. in International Affairs (American University), a B.A. in French (Rutgers University). She hold various yoga certifications including Yoga RYT 200 and Yoga for Sobriety, and is a Certified Life Purpose and Career Coach as well as Certified Recovery Coach.
