One-Hour Consultations to those on our waitlist

Meet Caitlin Gilchrist, Counselor- in-Residence, for a one-hour consultation to discuss strategies and resource referrals for short term support while on the waitlist for regular therapy services. Her clinical expertise includes Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness techniques to equip individuals with "right now" solutions. Our hope is to propel our support to reach more individuals who are unable to receive consistent services at this time.

Why seek a consultation:

1. Gain short term support while waiting to be connected with a therapist. 

2. Answer questions regarding therapy and determine if individual therapy is the best fit for you. 

3. Receive tangible strategies and tools to alleviate some short term concerns. 

4. Facilitate relaxation techniques such as meditation, mindfulness, or breath focus. 

5. Discuss alternative supports or provide additional resources if required.

THLH Parenting Blog

Being a parent isn’t easy. From navigating school to supporting your child’s mental health, parenting is more complex than ever.


That’s why I started the THLH Parenting Blog. As the CEO of Think Happy Live Healthy, I’ve spent the past 15 years working to support the mental health of parents and children, and I can’t wait to share my expertise with you.

Think Happy Live Healthy Story

  The idea for Think Happy Live Healthy began several years ago as I was working as a school psychologist in the Northern Virginia area.  Starting out as young as elementary school I was seeing an overwhelming amount of children suffering from depression, suicidal thoughts, self-injury, and anxiety.  By middle school, kids were overstressed, overworked, and overcommitted.  They had developed no coping skills and therefore chose unhealthy ways to deal with their suffering.


  As I was referring these children to therapists, it was almost as if my office was a revolving door.  These children were on lengthy wait lists and given medication.  Children were not learning positive coping strategies or developing an understanding of their bodies and minds until they reached therapy.  Therefore, middle school became a place where kids were refusing to come and/or suffering from significant physical and mental health issues.  Undiagnosed anxiety and depression turned into Irritable Bowel Syndrome or migraines, or other chronic illness.

   I began to pursue my license as a school psychologist to work outside the schools and provide therapy.  With my knowledge of real problems parents, children, and families face, I knew I could provide a unique and valuable service.

   For the past 10 years or so, I have been on my own journey of health and healing from a chronic illness that was not diagnosed until recently.  I can understand the frustration and hardships people face when they suffer from a silent illness, maybe one that is chronic or undiagnosed, and must continue with their daily lives and hide it from the world.  After seeing specialist after specialist I began to feel like there was no hope and decided to undergo a total lifestyle change.  I started learning and reading all about nutrition, changing my diet, cutting out foods, and exercising regularly.  I believe my positive mindset and healthy lifestyle are what propelled me to be able to effectively manage my chronic illness and my mental health.  Anything is possible when we learn to be curious about how we are feeling both physically and mentally and take steps towards our best self.

   By learning to let go of bad habits and embrace change, I finally began to live the Happy and Healthy life I’ve always wanted to.

I have taken my passion along with my training as a school psychologist to create Think Happy Live Healthy, to inspire young children, adolescents, and adults that they have the power to change and lead a healthy and happy life.  If we can help children learn these skills now, together we can change their future.
